Steve Smith Strikes Out Domestic Violence For Charity

The Steve Smith Family Foundation hosts its inaugural event at Ten Park Lanes

CHARLOTTE, NC (February 19, 2014)  – When Carolina Panther Steve Smith and his wife Angie launched the Steve Smith Family Foundation (S2F2) last year, the couple had one goal in mind, focusing on the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of their community, one person at a time.

On Sunday, March 2, S2F2, together with Safe Alliance, will host the foundation’s inaugural event, Strike Out Domestic Violence at Ten Park Lanes located at 1700 Montford Drive, Charlotte, NC.

“Angie and I wanted to create a unique experience that would maximize our service and make a difference,” said Smith. “Being involved in the community has always been important to our family, and Charlotte in particular has been great to us.”

The bowling event kicks off at 4 p.m. with a VIP experience that includes a Steve Smith meet and greet, plus photo, autographed souvenir lanyards, commemorative t-shirt, bowling and VIP lounge access with complimentary refreshments as well as an open bar for those 21 and older. VIP tickets are $125 for adults and $75 for children ages 12 and under.

Corporate teams and general admission tickets are available and include bowling and complimentary refreshments as well as a raffle ticket for a chance to win an autographed S2F2 t-shirt and other prizes. General admission tickets are $50 or $75 for pairs. Spectator tickets are also available for $30. All tickets can be purchased at

Funds raised at the event will benefit S2F2’s partner and local nonprofit, Safe Alliance. In 2013, Safe Alliance responded to nearly 12,000 domestic violence hotline calls in Mecklenburg County, and helped house more than 950 women and children in its Clyde and Ethel Dickson Domestic Violence Shelter.

I’m a much wiser, stronger and liberated person now that I have taken the steps to better our life [lives] because of the support and help from the staff of Safe Alliance. Without this help, I honestly do not know where we would be right now,” said an anonymous Safe Alliance client.

S2F2 asks participants to refrain from pursuing autographs so Smith has time to mingle with the crowd.

Safe Alliance provides a continuum of critical crisis services to those victimized by domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and trauma. We offer 24-hour crisis lines, the Clyde and Ethel Dickson Domestic Violence Shelter, a children’s advocacy center, safety planning services, hospital accompaniment, case management, systems advocacy, support groups, court advocacy/accompaniment and legal representation. We also specialize in trauma-informed counseling for those struggling with emotional crisis and deliver these services to individuals, couples and families. Safe Alliance serves over 20,000 people a year in Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union and South Iredell counties while reaching 20,000 more through advocacy and education.

Established in 2013 by Carolina Panther Steve Smith and his wife Angie, The Steve Smith Family Foundation is focused on the emotional, physical and spiritual needs of the community, one person at a time. S2F2 proudly partners with nonprofit organizations to provide hope and inspiration to those in need. The foundation is currently pending 501(C)(3) status.
