Former Panther Steve Smith takes teen with rare disorder to prom

A teenage girl suffering from a rare disorder had a special date to her prom in Gaston County this weekend, former Carolina Panther receiver Steve Smith Sr.

Eighteen-year-old Aubrey Bridges has autism and a rare disorder called “vein of Galen Malformation.” Communication is a struggle for Aubrey but she saw Steve Smith dance on video once and thought he’d be a fun date.

United Way Honors Steve Smith with ‘Leading the Way’ Award

United Way of Central Carolinas presented NFL receiver Steve Smith with its “Leading the Way” award at a fundraising event in Davidson last night. Organized by United Way’s Mooresville-Lake Norman office, the event had more than 100 attendees and raised just over $25,000 for United Way through sponsorships and donations.
